Giving back

At Span West, it’s important for us to give back the local communities that have supported and strengthened us since our early beginnings in 1982. We’re grateful for the opportunity our success has provided us – the ability to donate both time and money to a number of important organizations in Saskatchewan and beyond.

Here are just a few of the organizations we’re proud to support:

  • E.A. Rawlinson Centre for the Arts – Prince Albert
  • Pine Needle Mountain Bike & Music Festival – Prince Albert
  • SPCA – Prince Albert
  • Abbeyfield House – Prince Albert
  • Mont St. Joseph Home – Prince Albert
  • Victoria Union Hospital – Prince Albert

Global Neighbors

We also feel the need to reach beyond borders and help the wider world where help is needed most. Since 2008, Joe has traveled to Northern Thailand four times with Global Neighbors – a charitable organization dedicated to providing aid to displaced refugees from Myanmar. These migrants have sought refuge in Thailand as a way of escaping the violence in Myanmar – a country that has been subjected to over 60 years of civil war.
On his working trips, Joe has built everything from the desks for students to the schools that will provide them the education needed for a better life. Joe has also helped build dorms for the students and teachers, and a safe house for girls who are at risk of exploitation. Joe recently participated in a fundraising video for this wonderful cause. In the video, Joe sums up the significance of his volunteer work for Global Neighbors: “the kids have so much potential; we just have to help them stay safe and get an education.”
